May 1st
I was sleeping in my Hufflepuff Dormitory with five other sixth years like me.
Bang Bang!
I woke up. Was there someone at the door? The noise stopped, I fell back to sleep.
Bang Bang!
I woke up again. This time I went to the door and opened it. Standing there was Head of Hufflepuff House, Professor Sprout.
"How may I help you Professor," I asked.
"Cullen," said Sprout. "Get the other in your Dormitory and go to the common room right away!"
I look behind Professor Sprout and see first years walking down the stairs.
"Professor,'' I said. "What is going on?"
"We might have a war in our hands soon Cullen," said Sprout. "Hurry get the others!"
I nod. Sprout walks to the next door and I hear the same banging.
"Get up," I yell. Everyone is still sleeping.
"Wake up!" I yell even louder.
The other boys wake up. They look around then at me.
"Edward," said one boy. "What is going on?"
I rush to my bed to put on my uniform as quick as possible.
"Get up," I said. "Put on your uniform and go to the common room.''
"Why," said another boy.
"I have a feeling Voldemort will be here shortly," I said.
The four other boys look shocked and hurry to put on there uniforms. After we are all dressed, we rush out of the door.
Many students keep coming down the stairs. Me and the other four join them.
"What is going on," asked a first year.
"I heard that Harry Potter is here in Hogwarts," said a fifth year.
Many students ask many questions ask we rush to the common room. I finally make it to the common room. There are hundreds of worried Hufflepuffs waiting for Professor Sprout.
I look around the common room. Where is Bella? I look behind as more kids rush down the stairs. I finally see her she is in the middle coming down.
I push students to get to her. Bella notices me and rushes to me. I grab her into my arms.
"Edward," she asks. "What is happening?"
"I heard Harry Potter is here," I told her.
Moments later, Professor Sprout is at the entrance of the common room.
"Hufflepuffs," she yells. "Please follow me to the Great Hall! It is an emergency!"
I grab Bella's hand, we both rush to front of crowd with Professor Sprout. We leave the common room. As I exit the room, I see hundreds of Slytherins as well walking in the same direction as us being led by Professor Slughorn.
"Horace," said Sprout. "Are these all of your students?"
"Yes, Pamona," said Slughorn.
"Good, let's go!"
We walk in the basement of Hogwarts, walking to the ground floor. I look at Bella, she looks worried.
"Everything will be fine," I tell her.
Bella looks at me for a moment and smiles, but she then continues to look at her front. We finally make it to the stairs. Professor Sprout leads us out of Hogwarts' basement and into the Grand Staircase. I see Ravenclaws a couple of stairs up.
We all walk up a couple of flights of stairs and finally make it to the Great Hall's entrance. The doors are already opened. As I enter, I see the Gryffindors already at there table and the professors at theirs. Where is Professor Snape?
"Sit at your tables," yells Professor Sprout as she rushes to the front of the Great Hall. Me and Bella find a seat at the front of the table by the professors.
A few minutes have passed and every student is now seated. We all look at Professor McGonagall as she continues her speech.
". . . evacuation will be overseen by Mr. Filch and Madam Pomfrey. Prefects, when I give the word, you will organize your House and take your charges, in an orderly fashion, to the evacuation point.''
Everyone in the Great Hall is shocked after what McGonagall has said. I look down the table and see Ernie Macmillan stand up.
"And what if we want to stay and fight," he shouted.
There was a few applause.
"If you are of age, you may stay," said Professor McGonagall.
"What about our things?'' called a girl at the Ravenclaw table. "Our trunks, our owls?''
"We have no time to collect possessions,'' said Professor McGonagall. ''The important thing is to get you out of here safely.''
"Where is Professor Snape?" shouted a girl from Slytherin.
''He has, to use the common phrase, done a bunk," Professor McGonagall replied.
I turn to see our table, Gryffindor, and Ravenclaw cheering.
"Edward," whispered Bella. "Look in the middle of the Gryffindor table.''
I turn to the Gryffindor table to see Harry Potter looking for someone at the table.
"Harry Potter is here then," I said turning to Bella. "I guess that is why Voldemort is coming.
"We have already placed protection around the castle," said McGonagall, I turn back facing the front. "but is unlikely to hold for very long unless we reinforce it. I must ask you, therefore, to move quickly and calmly, and do as your prefects-''
There is a loud voice echoing through the hall. I turn to see where it is coming from, but there is nobody talking.
"I know that you are preparing to fight.'' Students scream all over the Great Hall. "Your efforts are futile. You cannot fight me. I do not want to kill you. I have great respect for the teachers of Hogwarts. I do not want to spill magical blood. Give me Harry Potter, and none shall be harmed. Give me Harry Potter, and I shall leave the school untouched. Give me Harry Potter, and you will be rewarded. You have until midnight.''
There is silence now in the Great Hall. Everyone turns to look at Harry Potter.
''But he's there! Potter's there! Someone grab him!" a girl yelled behind our table. I turn to look at the Slytherin table and to see Pansy Parkinson standing.
I look at her with disgust. I turn back to Harry and see all of Gryffindor in front of him facing Pansy. Me, Bella, and all of Hufflepuff get up in front of Gryffindor and all of Ravenclaw does the same. We all face Pansy. We all take our wands and point them at Pansy.
"Thank you, Miss Parkinson," said Professor McGonagall. "You will leave the Hall first with Mr. Filch. If the rest of your House could follow.''
Every Slytherin left there table and followed Mr. Filch out of the Great Hall.
"Ravenclaws, follow on!" cried Professor McGonagall.
Younger Ravenclaws followed the Slytherins out of the Great Hall.
"Hufflepuffs!"
Younger Hufflepuffs followed the Ravenclaws. Bella looks at me.
"Bella," I said. I'm staying to fight, but please you need to go."
Edward, no I'm staying with you!"
"Bella, please.''
Tears start to come out of Bella's eyes. I kiss her for a moment and then hug her.
"I'll be back for you," I told her in her ear.
"Okay," she whispers. "I love you.''
"I love you too."
Bella walks out of the Great Hall with the younger Hufflepuffs.
And Gryffindors!"
The same with Gryffindor.
I go back to my seat at the Hufflepuff table. A few older Hufflepuffs have remained as I have. I look around for my siblings, Rosaile (Ravenclaw), Emmett (Gryffindor), Jasper, and Alice (both Ravenclaws)
I notice Alice who is walking over to me. She sits beside me.
"Are you ready?"
I nod my head. I turn to see Japser on the other side of me and Rosaile and Emmett in front of me.
I turn to see Kingsley Shackebolt at the platform.
"We've only got half an hour until midnight, so we need to act fast!" said Kingsley. ''A battle plan has been agreed between the teachers of Hogwarts and the Order of the Phoenix. Professors Flitwick, Sprout, and McGonagall are going to take a group of fighters up to the three highest towers - Ravenclaw, Astronomy, and Gryffindor - where they'll have a good overview, excellent positions from which to work spells. Meanwhile Remus, Arthur, and I will take groups into the grounds. We'll need somebody to organize defense of the entrances of the passageways into the school-''
"Sounds like a job for us," I turned to see that it was Fred and George Weasley.
Kingsley nodded. "All right, leaders up here and we'll divide up the troops!''
Me and every student walk up Kingsley. I turn to see Professor McGonagall walking to Harry. I turn back to Kingsley.
". . . Edward and Alice Cullen," said Professor Sprout. "You will go with Professor McGonagall and these five other students to Gryffindor Tower.
"Yes Professor," I said. I turned to see Harry running out of the Great Hall and Professor McGonagall walking towards the platform.
"Minerva," said Sprout. "This is your group.''
McGonagall turns to look at me, Alice, and the five other students. She smiles at us.
"Okay," McGonagall said. "Follow me!"
The seven of us nod. I walk behind the entire group while Alice walks in front of the group talking with McGonagall. We walk out of the Great Hall and into the main entrance. It is flooded with hundreds of students trying to make there way out of the school.
We all rush to the Grand Staircase with students making there way down the stairs. We run up eight flights of stairs and make our way to the portrait of the Fat Lady.
"Veritas. Virtus. Libertas,'' says Professor McGonagall. The portrait swings open and we all walk into the Gryffindor common room.
This is the beginning of a war.
