Chapter 3 (Edward's Perspective)

May 1

I stare out of the window of the Gryffindor common room. I can see people taking positions. I can see the moon. I can see the night sky free of clouds.

"I can't believe this is happening," said Alice next to me.

"Me neither," I said.

"A sixteen year old and already going into a battle," said Alice.

"Alice, you could of left if you wanted to.''

"I didn't," Alice replied. "I wanted to come and protect my home.''

I smile at Alice.

"I can still remember taking the boats and seeing Hogwarts for the first time ever," I said. "It was amazing!"

"I know," Alice said. "I can still remember it too, now we are almost done with our time here.''

"It has been an amazing six years.''

"How is it going over here," asked Professor McGonagall walking towards us.

"No sign over here," said Alice.

"No sign of any Death Eaters," I said.

"Okay," McGonagall said. "Warn me if anything unusual happens."

"Yes professor," I replied.

McGonagall nods and walks to the other students guarding the other window.

"Do you think this entire castle will be burned down," I asked Alice.

"Don't know," said Alice. "This might be our last time ever at Hogwarts.''

"It's sad," I said. "It can't end like this.''

"Professor," yells a voice running down the common room's stairs. Me and Alice turn toward the stairs.

"What is it Mr. Davis?" asks McGonagall.

"There is some movement near the Forbidden Forest.''

McGonagall walks with the students up the stairs. We turn back to the window.

"Do you know the time," I ask Alice.

"fifteen to midnight," Alice replies.

"Almost time," I said.

"Yeah," said Alice. "How is Bella doing?"

"She evacuated the school hopefully," I said. "I told her she can't stay here during a battle.''

Alice nods.

"She will be fine.''

I hear someone walking down the common room's stairs. I turn and it is McGonagall.

"Death Eaters are taking positions," said McGonagall. "If they try to get through the charm will kill them.''

I turn back to the window. It looks like that there is no charm at all protecting Hogwarts.

"I hope Harry is fine," says Alice.

"Me too.''
