Chapter 4

May 1

It is ten minutes till' midnight. Me and Alice still stare at the window to see Death Eaters blocking the entire school.

"Take your positions," said McGonagall.

Me and Alice take our wands out. We continue to stare at the window.

Nine minutes have passed. There is now a minute left.

"Nervous," I ask Alice.

"Not at all," said Alice. "You?"

I shake my head. Alice smiles.

It is now midnight. There are sparks coming towards Hogwarts, but the charm blocks the spells. It now looks like fireworks.

Alice turns to McGonagall.

"Professor they are trying to attack," said Alice.

McGonagall walks towards Alice and looks out the window to see the sparks above Hogwarts.

"I hope the defences are ready," said McGonagall as she walks away.

The same thing happens for a few minutes, until, this yellow light comes in the sky. It lights up the entire common room. The light stops a couple of seconds later. I look at the sky, the shield is now visible. It is breaking apart.

"Professor," I yell turning to McGonagall. "The shield is gone!" 

McGonagall runs towards the closest window.

"Oh my God," said McGonagall. "I am speechless.''

"What should we do professor," Alice asks.

"Mister Cullen," said McGonagall. "You go down to the grounds to help with the defences.''

"Yes professor," I said walking towards the portrait. It swings open, and I walk out of the Gryffindor Common Room.

There a few students left being evacuated. I run down the Grand Staircase, floor after floor, until I hear an explosion.

All the students duck. I see a Death Eater break into the school's window. The Death Eater comes flying towards me.

"Stupefy!" I yell.

My spell hits the flying Death Eater and makes him crash into one of the walls. I continue down the Grand Staircase as I hear people yelling curses and explosions. I finally make it to the main entrance, now filled with a few people and walk into the courtyard.

Students attack the Death Eaters. Injured people are all over the ground.

"Avada Kedavra," I hear a person scream a few meters away from me.

I run for my life. I make it cover to see that a Death Eater tried to kill me.

"Stupefy!" I yell again. I hit the Death Eater. I watch as he falls to the ground. I now run towards a student fighting two Death Eaters until, there was a huge explosion in one of the towers of the school.

Debris fell onto the courtyard. The tower was now on fire. There was another explosion near me. Another Death Eater.

I casted Stupefy at him and he went flying and hit the castle's wall. I noticed that some Slytherin Students were fighting on Voldemort's side. Traitors.

"Confringo!"

My spell hit one of the Slytherin students he fell to the ground, full of blood. Another Slytherin saw this and turned to me.

"Expulso!"

I ducked as the curse went over me and exploded near the main entrance. I got back up and looked at him.

"Stupefy!"

He blocked my stupfey attack.

"Avada Kedavra!"

I fell to the ground as another curse went flying over my head.

"Expulso!"

The curse hit him in the chest he now fly out of the courtyard blood all over his chest. I looked around as every person dueled a Death Eater.

I heard a huge noise, I turned around to look at the school. More debris was falling as more parts of the school was hit by Death Eaters.

I ran to the school's main doors. The debris came down hard. It made loud noises as hit the ground. Some students were crushed by the debris, as well as some Death Eaters.

"Edward!"

I looked at the courtyard as someone said my name. I looked closely, it was Jasper. He was running from two Death Eaters.

"Jasper," I yelled as I ran back into the courtyard. Debris was still falling.

"Jasper duck," I said. "Stupefy!"

Jasper ducked and the curse had hit one of the Death Eaters. There was now one left.

''Stupefy," I yelled again.

The Death Eater blocked the curse as he ran for Jasper.

"Confringo," yelled the Death Eater.

The curse hit Jasper in the back. Japser fell to the ground.

"NO," I yelled. I ran towards the Death Eater.

He shot different types of curses at me, I blocked every single one. I was now standing right in front of the Death Eater. I punched him in the face, he was still standing.

"Expulso," I yelled.

The Death Eater fell to the ground. I looked behind me to see Jasper laying on the ground. I grabbed his body and ran to the school's doors. I opened the doors and went into the main entrance. I laid his body on the floor.

"Japser," I whispered.

"Edward," said Jasper. "I think i'm okay. The Death Eater hit my arm.''

I looked at Jasper's arm, it was covered with blood.

"Jasper, you need a nurse.''

"Edward. Where will we find a nurse right now? There is a battle going on.''

"Let's go into the Great Hall,'' I said.

I help Jasper get up. He holds his injured right arm as I open the Great Hall's doors. There is a few injured people there and one nurse.

I sit Jasper at one of the tables. The nurse rushes up to us.

"What happened," she asked. As the nurse asked this the entire Hall shook. I looked around the Hall, I then turned back to the nurse.

"He was hit with the Confringo curse by a Death Eater.''

The nurse holds Jasper's injured arm. She examines it.

"Can you move it," the nurse asks Jasper.

Jasper shakes his head.

"You stay here," said the nurse looking at Jasper. She then turns to me. "And you go back to the battle.''

I nod and turn to Jasper.

"Will you be alright?"

Jasper smiles and nods his head. I smile and run towards the Great Hall's doors. I go back into the main entrance.

There is now smoke in the main entrance. I look around for the cause. It is coming from the Grand Staircase. I ran towards the Grand Staircase.

Some of the flights of the stairs were badly damaged and on fire. The smoke now got darker. I could barely see.

"Stupefy," yells a voice.

I duck and see that it was a Death Eater.

Expulso," I yelled under the smoke hitting the Death Eater in the feet. I get back up and run up the stairs. I try to make it back to the Gryffindor Tower.

I see more Death Eaters. I hit them with my curses as I keep going up the flights. I finally make it to the portrait of the Fat Lady.

''Veritas. Virtus. Libertas," I said out of breath. The portrait swings open. I walk into the room. Wands were pointed at the entrance.

I stopped as I entered. As they saw it was me they lowered there wands. I saw McGonagall and ran towards her.

"Professor," I said. "More Death Eaters are coming into the school by the Grand Staircase. I'm pretty sure there are Death Eaters on each floor.''

"Thank you Cullen," said McGonagall, she turns to Alice. "Miss Cullen, I leave you in charge of the tower's defences.''

"My pleasure professor," replied Alice.

McGonagall nodded and rushed out of the common room. I looked as she left. I walked towards Alice.

"Jasper got hit by a Death Eater."

Alice stops and looks at me.

"W-What?"

"Alice," I said. "Don't worry, I got him to the Great Hall. He was hit in his arm. The nurse is taking care of him as we speak.''

"Thank god," said Alice. "How is it out there?"

"Not good," I said. "The entire staircase is covered with smoke. Half of the school is on fire. Bodies all over the place. Debris falling from the sky. It's out of control!"

"We all smelled the smoke from here," said Alice.

"What happened in here," I asked.

"Nothing really," Alice said. "We just see explosions all over the place."

"Alice," yelled a student.

Alice turns to look at the student.

"What is it?"

"A Death Eater is flying it's coming!"

"RUN AWAY FROM THE WINDOW," Alice yells.

Right when the students get out of the way, the window's glass breaks. The Death Eater stands there.

I cast a curse. The Death Eater blocks it. Alice then casts a curse, the Death Eater blocks it as well.

"Go upstairs," Alice yells to the other students. The students nod and run upstairs.

Me and Alice run for cover.

"Expulso," yells the Death Eater. I duck as the Death Eater hits the couch. It's now on burning.

"Confringo," yells Alice. The Death Eater blocks the attack. I look at the broken window, which is now a hole. I run towards it.

The Death Eater looks at me. He casts spells, I duck and jump as every curse comes near me. There is now fires all over the common room. I finally make it to the hole.

"Stupefy," yells the Death Eater. I block his attack. I look out the hole. I can see the entire school from here.

As I looked out the window, there was an explosion near my feet. I fall out the hole.

"EDWARD," yells Alice.

I grab onto the ledge of the hole. I was now hanging on for my life as I saw fire all over and explosions near me.

The Death Eater was now near my hands. His wand pointed at my face.

"This is how it ends," I said to myself. I close my eyes.

"Avada Ked-"

"Expulso!"

I open my eyes. The Death Eater stands motionless. He falls out of the hole, I look as he falls towards the ground. Alice saved me.

"Edward," yells Alice.

"Alice."

"Grab my hand."

As I try to grab her hand. Alice screams. I look behind me. I see a huge blue light coming towards me. It his the Gryffindor Tower. Debris falls and I fall as well.

"EDWARD!"

I scream as loud as I can. I look at the ground coming closer and closer to me. I see fires, people running, debris, and then darkness.

Darkness as I hit the ground.
